Sales partners & retainer agreements
A sales partner is an individual or a company outside Rentor that introduces clients — landlords, agencies, service providers and hosts — and earns a commission when they subscribe. Partners are not Rentor staff and not part of Rentor's own sales team; you work for yourself, on your own email address, and the product says Sales partner wherever you appear.
If you are one of Rentor's own sales reps, read Earning as a sales rep instead — this page covers the differences.
Getting your account
Partner accounts are set up by the Rentor team; there is no public signup.
- Rentor emails you at your own address — Set up your Rentor sales partner account.
- Open the link and choose a password. The link works once and expires after a few days; if it has lapsed, ask the Rentor team to send it again.
- Sign in with that same email address, on the web or in the app.
If you are a company, your organisation's name shows beside Sales partner at the top of your dashboard.
Your code and link
Your partner code starts with SP- — for example SP-7KQ2M — so a code on a flyer always says it came from a partner rather than a Rentor rep. It works exactly the way a rep's code does: anyone who registers through your share link, or types your code while signing up, is attributed to you, once, at signup.
Your code and link sit at the top of your Overview. Tap Copy share link on the web, or Share my link in the app.
What you can do
Partners share the selling and earning side of the sales portal with Rentor's reps:
- Leads — log a prospect before they sign up, so that their subscription is tied to you even if they register on their own later. The rules are the same as for reps: an email match attaches automatically, a phone match is confirmed by the Rentor team, and a code always beats a lead.
- My Clients — everyone attributed to you, and who has converted.
- Earnings — every commission with its status, a Request withdrawal button, and statements you can download as PDF or CSV.
- Materials — ready-made social posts to put on your own WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Telegram, X, LinkedIn or Snapchat, each going out with your own signup link, plus the library of brochures, flyers and price sheets. See Sales materials and social posts.
- Message supervisor — a private line to the Rentor sales team for anything about your clients or your terms. See Messaging your supervisor.
- Documentation — the whole site's how-to guides, one click away in your menu, for the moment a prospect asks how something works.
In the app your tabs are Overview, Leads, Clients, Earnings and More; Materials and Message supervisor are under More.
What is not for partners
A few parts of the sales portal belong to Rentor's own field team, and a partner account does not have them: the team Notices, The wall, assigned areas, and the My Day field log. They are simply absent from your menu. For anything else, write on your supervisor line, or open a ticket from Help & support for a problem with your account — see Support tickets.
How you are paid
By default a partner earns the same one-time commission as a rep: a share of each client's first subscription payment. Your Overview states your terms in one line — the percentage or fixed amount, and how many days the hold lasts.
- Accrued — your client made their first payment; your commission is locked in.
- Payable — once the hold period ends, it counts toward your withdrawable balance. If the client's payment is reversed inside the hold, the commission is voided.
- Paid — request a withdrawal once your payable balance reaches the minimum of KES 500, and the Rentor team releases it to your M-Pesa.
This commission comes out of Rentor's own subscription revenue. Rentor never takes a cut of anyone's rent, and neither do you.
If Rentor has paused the sales programme, a banner on your Overview says so: new signups do not attach and nothing new accrues until it is switched back on. Money you are already owed still matures and pays out.
Retainer agreements
A retainer agreement is a separate, individual arrangement between Rentor and one partner — or one rep. Nobody has one by default, and there is nothing to apply for in the app: it is agreed with the Rentor team in writing, and Rentor adds it to your account once it is signed off.
What it does:
- It pays you a percentage of every subscription payment your clients make after their first, for as long as the agreement runs. Your agreement states the rate.
- It is on top of the one-time commission, never instead of it. The first payment earns the one-time commission; every later subscription payment earns the retainer.
- It counts subscription payments only — not boosts, SMS credits or any other purchase, and never rent.
- It has a start date and may have an end date. Outside those dates it earns nothing.
When you hold one, a card called Your retainer agreement appears on your Overview showing the percentage, the dates, whether it is in force now, and how much it has earned from how many payments. Retainer earnings move through the same three stages — accrued, payable, paid — and appear on your Earnings page and statements alongside your one-time commissions.
If Rentor ends or replaces an agreement, what it already earned is yours; only future payments are affected. Your Converted count is never inflated by a retainer — it counts clients who made a first payment, not the payments that followed.
