Maintenance jobs from landlords
When a landlord or agency assigns you a repair, the job lands on your My jobs workspace — your dashboard Overview on the website, and the Home tab in the phone app. You work it end to end there: acknowledge, quote, post updates with photos, and hand it back for review.
Your jobs at a glance
The top of the page shows your numbers: Active jobs, Completed (every closed job is logged to your reputation), your Rating from the landlords you have served, and your Trust tier with the points behind it. Your skills are listed underneath.
Each job card shows the category, an urgency badge, the current status, the property and unit, and — where the landlord set one — the SLA deadline the job should be done by. Emergency jobs are flagged clearly; treat them as drop-everything work. Tap a card to open the full job.
Working a job, step by step
- Acknowledge — a new job starts as yours to confirm. Tapping Acknowledge tells the landlord you have seen it and are on it.
- Quote (if needed) — enter an amount under Submit a cost quote (KES) and tap Submit quote. You can tap Update quote to revise it any time until the landlord approves; once approved, a green Quote approved badge appears and the price is locked.
- Start work — tap this when you begin. The job moves to in progress.
- Post updates as you go — see below.
- Submit for review — when the work is done, enter the Final cost if it differs from the quote (optional) and tap Submit for review. You will see "Submitted — awaiting the landlord's review."
- Closed — the landlord confirms the work and closes the job. You will see "✓ Job closed and logged to your reputation."
If the landlord disputes the work, the job shows as disputed — fix what is needed and tap Resume work to continue.
The job thread and photo updates
Every job has a thread shared with the landlord (and the tenant where relevant), so nobody chases anyone on phone calls.
Under Post a job update:
- Write a short note — e.g. "Replaced the washer and cleared the trap — testing overnight."
- Tap Attach a photo to add up to six photos. Before-and-after shots help the landlord approve quickly.
- Tap Post update.
Your update lands on the thread and the landlord is notified. The thread shows everyone's messages with photo thumbnails, so the whole history of the job lives in one place.
Why it pays to do this well
After a job closes, the landlord (or the tenant of the home) can rate you on quality, timeliness and professionalism — and that rating feeds the average landlords see when they choose who to assign next. Clear quotes, honest updates and photos are how good fundis turn one job into many. See Ratings & reputation.
These assigned jobs also appear on your calendar by their SLA due date, alongside your client bookings — see Your schedule & time off.
