How everything works.

Every feature explained properly — for tenants, landlords, agencies, hosts and service providers.

For service providers

Your subscription, trial & boosts

Rentor gives every service provider a 3-month free trial, then a simple monthly or yearly subscription. This page explains the trial, what happens if you lapse, and the paid extras that grow your business.

The free trial

Your 3-month trial starts automatically when you become a provider — no card, no commitment. While trialing you are fully live: listed in the directories, bookable, and able to use everything.

Open Billing & Plans to see your trial countdown. As the end approaches, a banner reminds you across the last 14 days so it never sneaks up on you.

Subscribing

When the trial ends, subscribe from Billing & Plans on the website — monthly or yearly, paid by M-Pesa, card or bank. Current prices are on the Pricing page. Have a promo code, a referral reward or a credit? The pay sheet applies the best one automatically — see Promo codes, offers & referrals.

If your plan includes a monthly allowance of SMS credits for texting clients, the plan card says how many.

Renewal reminders and the Auto-renew switch work the same for every paid plan on Rentor, and so does subscribing through the App Store where the iPhone app offers your plan. They are explained in Plans, billing & add-ons.

What lapsing means (and doesn't)

A paid plan that reaches its end date does not switch off that night. Its status becomes PAST_DUE and you stay listed and bookable for a short grace period; the email you get on the day names the exact date. A free trial has no grace period — it ends on the day it says. If your trial ends, or the grace period passes without a renewal:

  • Your listing is hidden everywhere — the directories, the public services page, search and Discover. Landlords, agents, tenants and visitors can no longer find you.
  • New bookings and orders are blocked — clients cannot send you fresh requests.
  • Your existing work is untouched — jobs and orders already in flight continue, your invoices still work, and money owed to you still reaches you.

Subscribe again and you are relisted and bookable straight away. Your profile, catalogue, posts and ratings all wait for you — nothing is deleted. (The trial is once-off; a lapsed account does not get a second one.)

Profile boost — ★ Featured

A boost features your whole profile at the top of both directories at once — the landlord/agent directory and the home-services marketplace — with a ★ Featured badge on your card. One boost, both audiences.

Buy a boost from Billing & Plans on the website: pick a package (they run for a set number of days), pay by M-Pesa, card or bank, and the boost starts when payment confirms. While it runs, the page shows Featured with the days left. Boosts are always paid — there is no free boost — and you need a live, published listing to feature. Boost prices are on the Pricing page.

Afterwards, How your boosts performed on the same page compares each boost with the same number of days just before it — times seen, opens, likes and saves — so you can judge whether it paid for itself.

SMS credits

SMS credits power the SMS client and SMS customer buttons on your bookings and orders — real texts from inside Rentor, one or more credits per message. Buy credit bundles from Billing & Plans on the website; your balance shows after every send. See Getting booked for how messaging works on a job.

The SMS Rentor sends you when a new order or booking comes in is free and does not use your credits.

White-label branding

Want your invoices, documents and reports to carry your name, logo and colours instead of Rentor's? White-label is available to providers as a one-off unlock — pay once, keep it. Once unlocked, set up your brand on the Branding page and pick from four document looks — Classic, Modern Band, Minimal and Ledger — that restyle all your branded documents together. A small "Powered by Rentor" note stays on documents. Pricing for the unlock is on the Pricing page.

On the phone app: More → Settings & Account → Billing & Plans shows your trial status and plan, how your past boosts performed, and your SMS balance. Paid boosts and SMS credit bundles are not sold inside the app.
