My Day — your field log
My Day is your field log. Three kinds of tap — start the day, log each visit, log off — and each one records where you were standing when you pressed the button. It lives in the app only, as its own tab, because it is something you do at a gate in Pipeline, not at a desk.
What it records, and who sees it
Your location is captured only at the moment you tap Start my day, Log visit or Log off my day. There is no background tracking — close the app and Rentor has no idea where you are.
Every pin you create is visible to three parties: you, your sales manager (your supervisor), and Rentor admin. You see exactly the same record they do — the time, the coordinates and the accuracy of every pin — so there is never a version of your day that you cannot read. The first time you open My Day the app says this in one sentence; tap Got it to dismiss it.
The first tap asks for location permission. Without it My Day cannot log anything; everything else in the app still works.
Starting your day
- Open the My Day tab.
- Under Start my day, pick the market zone you plan to work. Your assigned zones are listed by code and name; choose Somewhere else if today is off-plan. If no zones are assigned to you yet, you can still start.
- Add a plan for the day if you like — a line is enough.
- Tap Start my day. It takes one GPS pin, here and now.
Logging a visit
Each time you meet a prospect, a caretaker, an agent — anyone worth recording:
- Under Log a visit, tag the zone (or No zone).
- Add a note — who you met, what happened. Optional, but it is the part you will thank yourself for on Friday.
- Tap Log visit. One tap, one pin.
Today's visits lists them newest first with the time, the zone and your note. A visit whose zone is not inside your assigned areas shows an out of zone chip — information for you and your supervisor, never a block. See Your sales areas.
A visit is a record of field work, not a lead. If the person might sign up, log them as a lead as well — that is what ties their subscription to you. See Earning as a sales rep.
Logging off
When you are done, add a day summary if you want one and tap Log off my day. That takes the closing pin and the card changes to Day logged off with your start and end times. Tomorrow starts fresh.
If you forget: a day left open closes by itself at midnight, Nairobi time. It is marked did not log off — you see it that way in Recent days, and so does your supervisor — and it has no closing pin, because nobody was there to press the button. Log off properly and the record is simply cleaner.
No network? Keep working
Field connectivity is what it is. If a tap cannot reach Rentor, the entry is saved on your phone and the app tells you so. Saved entries sit in a Waiting to sync card marked pending sync, and they go up by themselves the next time you open the tab or make another tap with signal — or tap Retry now.
A late sync does not move the entry: each one carries the time you actually tapped, so a visit logged at 2 pm in a basement still files at 2 pm when it reaches Rentor at 5. The phone holds a limited number of unsent entries; if it fills up, the app asks you to get back online before logging more.
If the app cannot get a GPS fix at all, it says so — step into the open or near a window and try again.
Recent days
Below today's log, Recent days shows your last few days at a glance: start and end times, the zone, the number of visits, and any did not log off or out of zone marks.
