Short stays
My trips
"My trips" is your one page for every stay you've booked — pending requests, upcoming check-ins, and past trips ready to review.
Finding your trips
After you book, tap "View my trips". Any other time, open My trips under Browse Rentor at the foot of your dashboard sidebar — you'll be asked to sign in if you aren't already. Each trip card shows the place, its photo and location, your dates, the number of nights and guests, the total in KES, and a status badge.
On the phone app: open More → My trips.
What each status means
- Pending — your request is with the host, who has 24 hours to accept. Nothing has been charged. You'll see "Awaiting host approval…" on the card.
- Awaiting payment — the host accepted (or you used Instant Book). Your dates are held — pay to confirm. The hold doesn't last for ever: one hour after an Instant Book, 24 hours after a host accepts your request.
- Confirmed — paid and locked in. Your check-in details are now available.
- Completed — the stay is over. You can now review it.
- Declined — the host couldn't take the booking, or the request expired. You weren't charged.
- Cancelled — the booking was cancelled. If a refund is due under the policy, the card shows it — "Refund due: KES …".
- No show — the booking was confirmed but you never arrived.
Paying from your trips
When a trip says awaiting payment:
- Tap "Pay now".
- Optionally type the M-Pesa number to use (2547XXXXXXXX).
- Tap "Pay with M-Pesa" and enter your PIN on the prompt — the card updates automatically once the payment lands. Where the host accepts them you'll also see "Pay by card" and "Pay by bank transfer". Or choose "Pay host on arrival" to settle in person.
Check-in details
Once a trip is Confirmed, tap "Check-in details" to reveal the host's instructions — directions, keys, and anything else they've written. These stay private until your booking is confirmed. If the host hasn't added instructions, contact them for details.
Message your host
Every trip has its own conversation thread — tap "Message about this booking" on the trip card to ask about directions, luggage, late arrival or anything else. You're both notified of replies, phone numbers stay private, and the thread closes a week after checkout. (Booked dates themselves can't be moved in-app — if your plans change, see cancelling below.)
Cancelling a trip
You can tap "Cancel" while a trip is Pending, Awaiting payment or Confirmed. Rentor asks you to confirm, and reminds you that refunds follow the host's cancellation policy — Flexible, Moderate or Strict, exactly as shown on the listing when you booked (see Booking & paying for a stay). Any refund due appears right on the trip card.
The host pays a refund to you directly. Follow it under Refunds in your dashboard (More → Refunds in the app): when the host says they've sent it, tap "Yes, it arrived" — or "It hasn't arrived" if it hasn't, and Rentor will look at their evidence. See Refunds — money owed back to you.
After checkout
Once a trip shows Completed, a "Review your stay" button appears. Reviews on Rentor are double-blind and only from real guests — here's how reviewing works.
