How everything works.

Every feature explained properly — for tenants, landlords, agencies, hosts and service providers.

For service providers

Your provider profile & verification

Your profile is your shopfront on Rentor — it is what landlords, agents, tenants and visitors see when they look for a fundi, a company or a seller. This page walks you through setting it up and getting verified so you can publish.

Everything here lives on one page: Profile & areas, under Work in your menu. On the phone app, open the Work tab and tap Profile & areas. If you are brand new, Set up my listing asks the essentials in four short steps first — see Your catalogue, pricing & coverage.

Individual or company?

Under Account type, choose first:

  • Individual (fundi) — you work under your own name. You will verify with your ID, KRA PIN and a passport photo.
  • Registered company — you will verify with business documents and can list a team of technicians. Companies also fill in their Registered business name and Business registration no.

Who do you serve?

Pick your audience:

  • Landlords & agents (maintenance) — they assign you repair jobs on their properties. You appear in the landlord and agency directory only.
  • Tenants (home services) — tenants, members and visitors browse, book and order from you. This also puts you on Rentor's public Find a service provider page, where people can find you without an account.
  • Both — you appear everywhere.

If you joined before the public page existed, a banner on your dashboard offers Make me visible — one tap switches you to Both.

Your advert profile

Fill in the details clients see:

  1. Business name — e.g. Otieno Plumbing Works.
  2. Years of experience.
  3. Headline — one line that sells your service (up to 160 characters).
  4. About — describe your experience, guarantees and turnaround.
  5. Contact phone and WhatsApp. The contact phone is the number customers see, and it does not have to be the one you sign in with.
  6. What do you do? — pick the categories you work in. They are grouped into sections and there is a search box, so type your trade instead of scrolling. If you only deliver goods, the question reads What do you sell?
  7. Where you work — tap + Add a place and pick a whole county, a town, or individual estates. If you cannot name the estates, tick I'd rather set a distance, drop a pin where you are based and say how far you travel.

Tap Save profile when you are done.

One switch saves on its own: Text me when a new order comes in. Leave it on and Rentor sends an SMS to your contact phone for every new order or booking, so you catch it even when the app is closed.

Identity verification

You must be verified before you can publish. Your documents are private — only you and the Rentor verification team can view them.

  • Individual: upload a Copy of ID (National ID, front), your KRA PIN certificate, and a Passport-size photo.
  • Company: first choose your Business structure, then upload the matching set:
  • Limited company: Certificate of Incorporation, Company KRA PIN certificate, CR12 (the registrar extract of shareholders and directors), Director's ID, and Director's passport photo.
  • Registered business name: Business Registration Certificate, Owner's ID, Owner's KRA PIN certificate, and Owner's passport photo.

Each document can be a photo (JPEG, PNG or WebP) or a PDF, up to 10 MB. iPhone HEIC photos are not accepted for documents — on your iPhone open Settings › Camera › Formats, choose Most Compatible and take the photo again, or send a PDF.

Tap Submit for verification. The badge on the card tells you where you stand:

  • Not verified — you have not submitted yet.
  • Pending review — our team is checking your documents.
  • Verified ✓ — done; you can publish.
  • Not approved — something did not check out. The reason is shown on the card; replace the document it names and submit again.

Publishing your listing

The banner at the top of Profile & areas says whether clients can find you: Your listing is live or Your listing is hidden. To go live you need three things: a verified identity, a headline, and at least one item in your catalogue. Then tap Publish listing.

Often you will not need the button at all. Once you are verified and have a headline, Rentor publishes your listing for you the moment you add a catalogue item with a photo or publish a Showcase post, and tells you it did.

You can hide yourself anytime with Unpublish — handy if you are fully booked. Rentor never re-publishes a listing you unpublished yourself; it stays hidden until you tap Publish listing again.

Photos and videos of your work

There is no separate photo gallery to maintain. What clients see of your work comes from two places:

  • Your catalogue — every item carries its own photos, and those are what appear in search and on your public page. See Your catalogue, pricing & coverage.
  • Showcase posts — short videos and photo sets of finished jobs. They appear in the Discover feed and under Recent work on your public page. See Showcase your work with video.

Your team (companies)

Companies can list the people they dispatch under Team — each with a name, and optionally a phone and skill. Team members do not get their own sign-in. When you sell goods, they are the riders you can assign to a delivery, and the customer sees the assigned rider's name and number on their order (see Orders & deliveries). For a booked service, Who's coming on the booking in the phone app names the technician you are sending.

If the reviewer asks a question

A reviewer may need one more thing before granting the badge - a clearer ID scan, a business certificate that matches the registered name. Your verification card then shows Reviewer has a question with the question under it, and you get a notification and an email. Reply on that card (a photo or document can be attached) and the review picks up where it left off; you do not re-submit your documents. Your answers stay on the card alongside the questions.
